Evelyn Namara Emerges as Finalist in the AWIEF Awards

Techpreneur and Founder of Vouch Digital; Ms. Evelyn Namara from Uganda has emerged as finalists of the 2019 Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fourm (AWIEF). She is among 22 women selected for these annual awards that celebrate women leaders and entrepreneurs across Africa.

AWIEF Head Judge, Ms. Birgitta Cederstrom, said; “This year’s AWIEF awards program has offered a host equally inspirational and terrific female entrepreneurs and innovators driving growth in Africa.”

The awards are in eight categories, Young Entrepreneur Award, Tech Entrepreneur Award, Social Entrepreneur, Agri Entrepreneur Award, Global Brand Award, Empowerment Award, Creativity Industry Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ms. Evelyn Namara emerged finalist in the ‘Agri Entrepreneur Award’ category along with two other women entrepreneurs from Ghana and Nigeria.

Winners will be announced on Oct. 30th, 2019 at the AWIEF conference and exhibition slated for Oct. 29th to Oct. 30th in Cape Town, South Africa.

Her innovation; Vouch Digital is championing last-mile digital payments in the agricultural sector by using a system that combines a couple of ICT tools to allow development agencies to disburse subsidies to smallholder farmers to enable them to purchase improved seeds, fertilizers, pesticides etc.

It is USSD support that allows agro-dealers to use any kind of mobile phone to redeem vouchers in a fast, efficient and transparent manner. It also has a mobile money integration that pays dealers immediately they redeem a voucher from a beneficiary.
