How to Fix MTN Call Drops For iPhone Users
MTN Uganda subscribers using iPhone handsets from iPhone X series to iPhone 11 have been complaining a lot about having call drops; a terminated unexpectedly as a result of technical reasons, including poor network signal.
MTN has later explained that the dropped calls are usually caused by outdated software. Thereby, all the subscriber has to do is make some updates to avoid the annoying situation over again.
iPhone users with the X series and 11 handsets who are the main priority here, have to upgraded their operating system to Apple’s latest version.
How?
- Open Settings.
- Select General.
- Choose the Software Update option.
- You can then follow the prompts to upgrade to the newest version, iOS 13.4.
- Once the update is done, you should be able to enjoy better quality calls.
One of the functions of UCC under Uganda Communications Act 2013 is to promote and safeguard the interests of consumers and operators as regards the quality of communications services and equipment. The Commission monitors and conducts performance audits to establish the performance of operators against the Quality of Service (QoS) standard of Uganda with respect of the key performance indicators that include; Blocked call rate and Dropped call rate.
In the period September to November 2019, UCC conducted benchmark measurements of mobile voice telephony and data services in Uganda to assess the QoS received by users/consumers in twenty (20) towns across the country including; Mbarara, Kabale, Moroto, Kasese, Hoima, Mubende, Arua, Mbale, Tororo, Soroti, Lira, Kampala, Mukono, Jinja, Masaka, Mityana, Entebbe, Masindi, Fort Portal and Gulu.
According to UCC standard for QoS , its target on blocked call rates and dropped call rates is 2% while success call rate is 98%.
In the finding, looking at MTN’s drop call rate, out of the 20 districts, the telco saw the target in five of the districts; Mbarara, Kampala, Mubende, Homia, and Kabale. The rest were below UCC’s 2% target.
