The Medical Concierge Group hits 50,000 monthly online users, eyes Kenya expansion

The Medical Concierge Group (TMCG) now has over 50,000 monthly users online via voice, SMS, WhatsApp and social media.

The Medical Concierge Group was borne out of the frustrations of young Ugandan medical professionals with the shortcomings of the existing health sector, particularly the public sector with a proposition to deliver personalized healthcare to people.

Dr. Davis Musinguzi, a co-founder of TMCG told SmartMonkey TV in an interview that the service is most used by those living in urban and peri urban neighborhoods. And that most of the rural users come through partnerships they have with development and clinical research organisations.

Users of the TMCG service are mainly 18-35 years old, the mobile savvy generation who are very comfortable speaking to the doctor in this way. Dr. Davis Musinguzi also claims that 70% of the calls are for primary health care consultations and picking stuff up from the pharmacy. 20-25% need to see a specialist like a cardiologist or an obstetrician. 1-5% need to go directly to a health facility.

SmartMonkey TV also reports that in the next 12 months, TMCG is looking to roll-out a remote medical monitoring with wireless diagnostic devices and an expansion into the Kenyan market to compete with Safaricom’s Sema Doc.
