Editor’s Pick: 5 Features, Specs We Liked on the Tecno Camon 11 Pro

The Tecno Camon 11 Pro is so far the best smartphone from Tecno. It’s a well built handset, with good looks, premium features and an average performance. Its impressive design, build, and specs are having many of us chasing for it.

It was launched in Uganda last year in Dec. after its official release in Nigeria. It was launched along with the Camon 11, as the two super-smartphones became the successors of the Camon X and Camon X Pro. While we didn’t get hands-on the Camon 11, we had the Camon 11 Pro. In our review, the handset managed to score 3.8/5 rating.

For its impressive features and specs, we picked out five that stood up for us.

1. Artificial Intelligence technology integration
AI technology integration to smartphone is not a new thing. Smartphone markers have adopted AI to better handsets performance from imaging to power efficiency, to security. The Camon 11 Pro is a testimony for this.

2. Space and Memory
We all look at the space, and memory when buying a smartphone. It’s so far the topped feature/spec consumers consider while buying a smartphone or upgrading to a newer one. Look at space, you have your downloaded apps—which in time need to be update, so more space is consider. The OS itself takes a good size off the space you have. Therefore, the more the space the better it is. The Camon 11 Pro has 64GB internal storage, not bad considering it can be expanded with a microSD card. Consumers who don’t over load their handsets, 64GB is a good storage option for them.

Meanwhile, the memory. The Camon 11 Pro comes with 6GB RAM. Tecno listened to its consumers — its predecessor, Camon X Pro came with 4GB RAM which raised a lot of concern considering that it was a high-end smartphone. Thus, the 6GB RAM on the Camon 11 Pro gives smile to our faces. It gives better performance, runs smoothly, un-noticed hangs, among others.

The memory is coupled with a 12 nm Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 chipset, Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor—which plays a big role in its performance.

3. Camera
The camera is handset’s holder best friend. By now, you probably know that the camera is one of the biggest features on a smartphone. Many consumers look at the camera before buying the handsets. Well, Tecno for every handset they launch tend to have improved the camera performance slightly. On its Camon 11 Pro, thanks to its AI technology integration, the camera performance from our review was good.

The handset has a dual rear camera at 16MP—25mm (wide) with an aperture of f/1.8, and a secondary AF 5MP depth sensor with an aperture of f/2.4. The front camera comes at 24MP,—26mm (wide) with an aperture of f/2. The rear cameras features a Quad-LED dual-tone flash—on the video part, shoots 1080p at 30fps. Meanwhile the front camera features a LED flash, and shoots 1080p at 30fps in video as well.

The cameras come with AI-powered operational features like AI Bokeh effect, AI HDR, and AI automatic scene detection to improve on the picture and video quality. Consumers upon taking the photo/video get well balanced and crisp photos/videos.

4. Notch
Probably, many would ask why we have this on the list. Most people are not fans of notched displays, I inclusive. The feature was a trend in 2018, but it’s losing the trend this year as now smartphone manufacturers are shifting to a hole-punched display.

Tecno’s Camon 11 Pro comes with the notch feature and the reason we’ve it on this list is that it can be removed if the handset holder doesn’t want it. Unlike — to what we have seen in most handset where the notch is more of hardware, in the Camon 11 Pro, it’s software. Users in the ‘settings’ options have the ability to hide it.

5. HiOS skin
The Camon 11 Pro comes with Android 8.1 (Oreo) and on top of it is Tecno’s HiOS skin v.4.1. The HiOS v4.1 is the company’s newest version which looks clean and good. Tecno indeed improved the skin to look more flat with light colors which are well balanced and placed. We believe Tecno is still polishing the UI, its next high-end handset ‘might’ come with a well topped UI. The skin does match the notch ‘literally’.[related-posts]
