Africa’s Startup Battlefield Winner ‘Lori Systems’ Expand its Operations to Uganda

Last year’s winners of TechCrunch’s Africa Startup Battlefield; Lori Systems back in July announced it had expanded its Logistics operation to Uganda, making it the second country after Kenya to hold the firm’s operation. Notably, the company as well expanded to Rwanda, and South Sudan. According to the company, ‘the expansion furthers its (Lori) mission of improving the lives of over a billion people through lowering costs of logistics and driving efficiencies.’

Lori built a logistics platform to improve cargo transportation across Africa starting from Kenya. They provide to the market real-time information and optimization which is used to make informed decisions (to reduce inefficiencies) and increase the utilization of trucking assets – all with the objective of lowering the costs of goods in Africa. In addition, also handles invoicing, payment and tracking. It’s an all-in-one platform that leverages technology to elegantly solve logistics issues that have been around for a while.

According to reports by Disrupt Africa, more than 40% of grains transported through Kenya to Uganda is through Lori.

According to the East Africa Tenders; over 43+ businesses in Uganda listed logistics among their services. Lori, sees a lot of competition in this field, and considering its 40% mentioned earlier above, this isn’t much bad for its business to Uganda.
