5 Payment alternatives to Paypal

Every online business seeks to have a reliable way of recieving money and processing payments.

The truth is that no one payment processor comes close Paypal’s reach and range of services, but once in a while, you need an alternative, especially if you have been burnt by Paypal.

Today, we present you with some alternatives to Paypal.

2CheckOut– 2CheckOut is an online payment processor that accepts Paypal payments as well as major credit cards. They target a global customer-base and also offer a dynamic shopping cart that will convert your prices into local currencies- a feature that can definitely come in handy if you have an international customer-base.

Authorize.Net: This is one of the the Internet’s most widely used payment gateway with over over 400,000 merchants. They have been the recipient of numerous Achievement in Customer Excellence (ACE) awards.

ProPay: The offerings of Propay are similar to those of PayPal, including the ability to receive and send money anywhere in the world and even recurring billing and a built-in shopping cart. ProPay is also accepted by eBay.

Google Wallet: This is one of the ways of sending, receiving and paying money online. The biggest problem at the moment is that it is available only in the United States as of now. Google Wallet can store debit cards, credit cards gift cards and loyalty cards in a digital wallet and use it for sending and receiving money from friends or family as well as a way to pay money online.

Skrill: This was previously known as Moneybookers, and can be used to send and receive money and shop online. A user can send money to an email ID, which belongs to another Skrill user and the recipient can withdraw money through his/her debit card, credit card, or bank account etc. The best feature is that they allow instant withdrawal into the bank account of recipient.

  1. PayPal offers quite wide variety of services that are not supported by other providers, but if the only feature needed is merchant accounts then there are tons of good alternatives. The question is how to pick the right one? It is either you choose already known brands like Braintree, 2CheckOut and spend way more for the service only for the brand, or you choose startups, companies relatively new to the market, E.g. Cardinity, where service/support quality is high and pricing is friendly for all businesses (1,7 % + 0,25 EU flat fee). I am interested in what cases a well known brand should be chosen instead of startup or new company to the market?
