The Centenary Group Board of Directors has today visited the Tier 3 Data Centre project to assess progress and reaffirm their commitment to timely delivery. The visit aimed at ensuring that the project remains on schedule for its official launch in the first quarter of 2026.
The Board expressed satisfaction with the significant strides made so far, noting that the project is not only on schedule but also firmly aligned with Centenary Group’s vision of building sustainable, future-ready infrastructure.
As Uganda’s first Green Tier 3 Data Centre, designed with energy efficiency and environmental sustainability at its core, will serve as a cornerstone for secure digital transformation across both the public and private sectors, extending its impact beyond Uganda to the wider East African region. By hosting critical government systems alongside enterprise and financial services, the data centre will strengthen trust, enable innovation, and guarantee reliability at scale.
“This project is a foundation for Uganda’s digital future. As a green data centre, it symbolizes our commitment to sustainable progress and responsible stewardship,” said Prof. John Ddumba Ssentamu, Centenary Group’s Chairman Board of Directors. “Today’s visit reassures us that we are firmly on track for a successful launch.”
Mr. Kimanthi Mutua, Centenary Group Director, noted that the project represents Centenary Group’s belief that Africa’s digital transformation must be built on secure, sustainable, and future-proof infrastructure. “What we are building here will serve generations,” he says.
In his remarks, Dr. Grace Ssekakubo, Centenary Technology Services’s Chief Executive, said, “Our customers, partners, and communities deserve world-class digital infrastructure. What we saw today confirms that this facility will deliver exactly that—security, reliability, and sustainability—while empowering industries and fueling economic growth.”
Peter Kahiigi, Chief Technology Officer at Centenary Technology Services, observed that technology is only as powerful as the infrastructure behind it. “This data centre embodies resilience, innovation, and environmental consciousness. We are building a platform that will enable digital services at scale while reducing the carbon footprint,” he said in a press statement sent to PC Tech Magazine.
With the countdown to launch now underway, the Centenary Group Data Centre is set to become a national and regional benchmark for sustainable digital infrastructure.
The project demonstrates Centenary Group’s technological ambitions and its commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment. By combining cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility and local economic development, the Green Tier 3 Data Centre stands as a testament to the Group’s vision of inclusive, sustainable progress.
