On Thursday, TECNO Mobile officially launched its highly anticipated Camon 40 series in Uganda, marking the latest evolution in its camera-centric smartphone lineup. Following its global debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025 in Spain earlier this month, the Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro have now arrived in the Ugandan market, promising to deliver a premium photography experience, robust performance, and sleek design.
Globally, TECNO unveiled four models under the Camon 40 umbrella: the standard Camon 40, Camon 40 Pro, Camon 40 Premier, and Camon 40 Pro (5G). However, Ugandan consumers will have access to two variants: the Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro. Both devices stay true to TECNO’s promise of prioritizing camera innovation, headlined by a large 50MP primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
“This latest addition to the CAMON family brings cutting-edge technology, powerful camera capabilities, and sleek design, redefining the mobile experience,” Bruce Dickson, Product Consultant at TECNO Uganda said at the launch of the phones on Thursday at Arena Mall in Kampala. “The phones have advanced AI-powered cameras, seamless performance, and stylish design. Whether you’re a photography enthusiast, a gaming lover, or someone who values a premium smartphone experience, the Camon 40 series has something for you.”

The standard Camon 40 is positioned as the entry point to the series but punches above its weight with flagship-level features. It sports a vibrant 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth scrolling and immersive visuals. Under the hood, the MediaTek Helio G100 chipset powers the device, optimized for multitasking and gaming.
Photography takes center stage with a triple-camera setup: a 50MP OIS primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, and a depth sensor for portrait effects. The 32MP front camera, though fixed-focus, aims to deliver sharp selfies. Storage options include 8GB of RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, while a massive 5,200mAh battery with 45W fast charging ensures all-day endurance. The device comes in Black, White, and two distinct Emerald Green finishes.
The Camon 40 Pro mirrors its sibling (the Camon 40) in most specifications but elevates the front-facing camera to a 50MP sensor with autofocus—a boon for vloggers and selfie enthusiasts. It also skips the 128GB variant, offering only 256GB of storage. Color options remain consistent with the standard model, maintaining a premium aesthetic.
The Camon 40 starts at UGX859,000, while the Pro variant retails at UGX989,000. Both devices are available nationwide at TECNO-branded stores, MTN service centers, and authorized retailers. As an added incentive, buyers will receive 9GB of data from MTN, spread over three months.
To showcase the series’ capabilities, TECNO will host a two-day “Smartphone Experience” event from March 21-22 at the Banana Life Shop at Forest Mall, Lugogo —where they will also play games for a chance to win gifts. Attendees can test the cameras, explore performance features, and enjoy exclusive launch offers.
With the Camon 40 series, TECNO continues to bridge the gap between affordability and high-end innovation. The focus on camera versatility, coupled with strong battery life and vibrant displays, positions these devices as compelling choices in Uganda’s competitive smartphone market. Whether capturing life’s moments or powering through daily tasks, the Camon 40 and 40 Pro aim to cater to diverse user needs—proof that premium tech need not come at a premium price.
