Tecno Mobile has opened pre-orders in Uganda for its highly anticipated Camon 40 series, marking the next chapter in its smartphone lineup.

The brand confirmed the devices will debut globally at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025 on March 4th, positioning the launch as a major showcase for its photography-focused innovations. While details remain sparse, the move signals Tecno’s ambition to strengthen its foothold in Africa’s competitive mid-range smartphone market.

The Camon 40 series succeeds last year’s Camon 30 lineup, which gained traction for balancing affordability with robust camera capabilities. Though Tecno has not disclosed how many models will comprise the new series, the company promises “advanced features” to “set a new benchmark” in mobile photography. Marketing materials highlight “unprecedented snap photography” paired with AI-enhanced experiences, suggesting upgrades in computational imaging and software-driven enhancements.

True to Tecno’s Camon legacy, photography remains the series’ cornerstone. A standout feature is a dedicated physical camera button, reminiscent of Apple’s iPhone design, aimed at streamlining photo and video capture. This addition could appeal to content creators and casual users alike, offering quicker access to shooting modes. While specifics about sensor sizes or megapixel counts are under wraps, the emphasis on AI hints at smarter scene optimization, portrait refinements, and low-light improvements.

Despite Uganda’s pre-order launch, Tecno has yet to announce official release dates for African markets, including Uganda. Pricing details also remain undisclosed, leaving potential buyers to speculate based on the Camon 30 series’ range of UGX900,000 to UGX 1.7 million. However, eager customers can secure early access by paying a non-refundable deposit of UGX50,000 before the pre-order (PRE-ORDER LINK) window closes on March 9th.

By aligning the global unveiling with MWC—a premier tech expo—Tecno aims to amplify its international credibility while catering to its core African audience. The pre-order strategy capitalizes on anticipation, though the lack of local launch dates or pricing may test consumer patience.

For now, Ugandan tech enthusiasts face a calculated gamble: securing a pre-order spot without full details or waiting for post-MWC clarity. Either way, the Camon 40 series underscores Tecno’s commitment to pushing boundaries in affordable smartphone innovation—one snapshot at a time.
