This is the most anticipated game this year and is scheduled to be released in late 2025 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The Grand Theft Auto franchise that Rockstar Games has developed has built a cult-like following due to its popular titles like Vice City, and San Andreas, and its most popular one to date GTA V released in 2013 which still has a strong player base today. When GTA 6 released its trailer on December 4th, 2023, it broke the record for the most viewed non-music video ever with over 90.6 million views in 24 hours.
Gamers globally are holding onto hope that Rockstar Games has something extraordinary in store for them. As the anticipation builds and the wait for this highly anticipated game stretches on, fans are eager to see if the wait will be rewarded with an unforgettable masterpiece.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
The Assassin’s Creed franchise has never disappointed with its multiple titles and we can be sure that its latest installment “Shadows” shall not either. Ubisoft, its creator can be relied upon to give a great gaming experience every time they release a new Assassin’s Creed game.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will be released on March 20, 2025, shall follow its predecessors at a different time in world history. It shall be set in Feudal Japan around the 14th Century a period that was marked by civil wars and warring states feuding for control over Japan and this time the protagonist shall be a female.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear Solid, and now creator of the Death Stranding series is a powerhouse in the gaming industry at large. In a year that GTA 6 is scheduled to be released, Death Stranding 2 has the potential to be a standout title due to Hideo Kojima’s ability to create a powerful wide-scale world exploration and the nature of societal connection.
With Kojima, you can always expect insane plot twists along the way and distractions that will throw a curveball as you play the game.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to release for the PlayStation 5 in 2025. However, an official date has not been revealed.
Elden Ring: Nightreign
Elden Ring: Nightreign shall be a spinoff from the original Elden Ring series. FromSoftware Inc., its creator announced that Elden Ring: Nightreign shall take place in a different universe where you will be venturing into Limveld —an amalgamation of some of Limgrave’s environments and areas. In this new land, you’ll need to work with two of your friends to survive the day, looting and leveling as you explore, with the night bringing a shrinking map and powerful boss encounter —make it to day three and you’ll be able to take on the Nightlord, earning powerful relics which can be used to supercharge your next session.
An official date hasn’t been revealed, however, Elden Ring Nightreign will be released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Mafia: The Old Country
Mafia: The Old Country will be set in early 1900s Sicily, you will be following Enzo Favara’s journey from a childhood in the sulphur mines to his rise within the Torrisi crime family. Developed by Hangar 13, it looks like the studio is ditching the open-world approach of Mafia III, focusing instead on a more linear, narrative-driven experience. Judging by the trailer alone we can expect a serious cinematic rollercoaster
Mafia: The Old Country is a prequel to the first game and the fifth main entry in the Mafia series. The game is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S in (Q3) mid-2025.
Fable
Developed by Playground Games, Fable comes back with more Spellcasting, epic combat, and bags full of charm, and moral choices. Fable brings us back to the fantastical world of Albion in the stirrups of an aspiring adventurer who helps (retired) legendary hero Humphry stop his old protege. This one Fable installment shall have decision-making mechanics seen in other beloved RPGs and promises the sword-and-sorcery feel we all like from this franchise.
Fable is scheduled to be released for Windows and Xbox Series X/S but an official date hasn’t been confirmed.
Dune: Awakening
Dune: Awakening will be the video game adaptation of the famous and critically acclaimed Denis Villeneuve “Dune” movies. Fans of the Dune movies will get the open-world survival builder they deserve with Dune Awakening, an ambitious indie that pits players in faction wars across the spice-filled sands of Arrakis.
Dune: Awakening is currently scheduled to be released in early 2025 for PC, with ports for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S to follow.
Ghost of Yōtei
Ghost of Yōtei will be the sequel to the famed Ghost of Tsushima. Set 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei shall follow a female protagonist who takes up the mantle of “Ghost” as she wanders off the countryside surrounding Mount Yōtei in Hokkaido, of Feudal Japan.
Ghost of Yōtei is set to release for PlayStation 5 in 2025. A date hasn’t been confirmed.
