Infinix has shown an impressive growth trajectory, marking a significant 18.8% year-over-year (YoY) increase in global smartphone shipments in Q2 2024, according to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. This growth marks the fifth consecutive quarter of YoY growth for the brand, solidifying its influence in global markets and retaining its third-place position in Uganda’s competitive smartphone market.

Tony Zhao, General Manager of Infinix, attributed the brand’s success to its “relentless pursuit of innovation and a deep understanding of consumer needs.” He emphasized that Infinix’s strong performance underscores its commitment to empowering youth through technological innovation and meaningful engagement with consumers.

Consistent global growth

Infinix’s consistent performance extends across multiple global markets, with the brand securing top-five market share positions in over 20 key regions. In countries like the Philippines and Pakistan, Infinix has maintained the top spot —and in markets such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Algeria, and Saudi Arabia they have reported significant YoY shipment growth ranging from 50% to 469% in Q2 2024.

In Uganda, Infinix continues to build on its strong market presence holding its 3rd place spot in the smartphone market for Q2 2024. This success is due to localized marketing campaigns and innovative product launches tailored to young consumers. A major highlight for the Ugandan market will be the upcoming launch of the HOT50 Series during the Elgon Half Marathon on November 2, 2024, in Mbale City. In collaboration with the Joshua Cheptegei Development Foundation (JOCDEF), the event aims to bridge the growing digital divide among Uganda’s youth by empowering schools with much-needed digital tools and resources.

As part of this event, Infinix will sponsor the 10km run with a special color run, where various electronic prizes, including Infinix laptops, the HOT50 series, earbuds, and smartwatches, will be awarded to winners of the 21km and 10km races. This initiative aligns with Infinix’s mission to raise awareness about the digital gap and highlight the vital role technology plays in education today.

Moreover, Infinix and JOCDEF are launching a partnership to provide digital tools to schools, starting with Joshua Cheptegei Primary School. Infinix will donate a range of laptops—part of its Artificial Intelligence of Things family—designed to offer students and educators access to cutting-edge digital platforms, helping bridge the digital divide and equip future generations with essential technological skills.

Pioneering technological advancements

Infinix has focused on offering cutting-edge technology at accessible price points. The NOTE 40 series, developed in collaboration with BMW Group Design Works, offers a premium experience, while the GT 20 Pro gaming smartphone stands out as a first in its price segment with a dedicated gaming display chip. This gaming focus has enabled Infinix to partner with major esports events, strengthening its presence among mobile gaming enthusiasts.

Future outlook

As Infinix continues to innovate and expand its product portfolio, it remains committed to advancing mobile gaming technology through partnerships with MediaTek, Samsung, and popular game titles like Honor of Kings. With its growing market share and innovative products, the brand is well-positioned to maintain its momentum globally and within Uganda’s competitive smartphone market.
