The 2024 Summer Olympic Games kick-off a day from today, and are happening in Paris, France from 24 July to 11 August 2024, with the Opening Ceremony taking place on 26 July. Paris is the main host city, with events set to be held in 16 other cities spread across Metropolitan France, plus one subsite in Tahiti, French Polynesia.
Having won the bid, Paris was awarded the position of host of the games at the 131st IOC Session in Lima, Peru, on 13 September 2017. According to reports, Paris 2024 will be the final Olympic Games held during the IOC presidency of Thomas Bach.
As such, a total of 206 Olympic National Teams are represented at the 2024 Summer Olympics with 54 from Africa, 48 from Europe, 44 from Asia, 41 from North & South America, 17 from Oceania, the Individual Neutral Athletes, and the Refugee Olympic Team.
