ZTE Has Launched its ‘Quartz Android Wear 2.0 Smartwatch’ and Features Google’s AI

As reported in February earlier this year, ZTE was said to be working on its first Android Wear Watch. The company on Monday officially launched the ‘ZTE Quartz’ smartwatch with Android Wear 2.0 and has been priced at $192 (roughly 695,000 UGX) in the US. The smartwatch according to online reports will be made available online from Friday and will be released through stores starting April 21st this month.

As the Android Wear 2.0 roll out has been delayed for several watches due to certain bugs according to reports, ZTE’s new smartwatch could provide an affordable alternative to LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport, which were launched earlier this year with the platform.

Specifications: The watch is said to sport a 1.4-inch AMOLED display, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of inbuilt storage, IP67 water resistant, 500mAh battery and also comes with built-in speaker and mic. In terms of connectivity, it packs 3G, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi, and GPS. The sensors on the device include an accelerometer, gyroscope, and barometer. The watch is also said to features Google’s AI; Google Assistant.

In press statement, Lixin Cheng; Chairman and CEO of ZTE USA said; “We are known to push the boundaries of affordable premium smartphones. With this smartwatch, we are expanding our reach into the wearables segment and offering our consumers a rich, connected smartwatch experience while maintaining our affordability value proposition.”

The smartwatch will be made available in a silver color option only.[related-posts]
