Ninety (90) Ugandan startups have been selected to participate in the 3rd edition of the Startupper of the year Challenge by TotalEnergies. The goal of the challenge is to support young African entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 where winning startups will receive financial support, media visibility, and mentorship/coaching.
Uganda is among the 32 African countries participating in the challenge. The startup founders applied in three categories; Best Business Creation, Best Startup under three years old, and Best Female Entrepreneur —and it is out of the 90 startups that only 3 startups will emerge as winners, one from each category. The best female entrepreneur will apply in one of the two categories. She will be able to receive a maximum of 2 prizes: a prize in her category, and the prize for the best female entrepreneur. The latter is determined according to her personality and her background.
Of the 90 startups, 62 startups are in the category of Best Business Creation, and 28 startups are in the category of Best Startup under three years old. The startups will be evaluated in three criteria: their response to the challenges of sustainable development, their innovative character, and their feasibility and development potential. The startups will present their projects in front of a jury of experts starting March 28th until April 15th, 2022 and the top 3 startups will be announced on April 18th, 2022.
Beyond the entrepreneurial spirit, the 3rd edition of the Startupper of the year Challenge by TotalEnergies reaffirms TotalEnergies’ commitment to supporting the socio-economic development of the countries in which the company operates in Africa. It contributes locally to strengthening the social fabric by supporting the most innovative entrepreneurs in the realization of their projects.
