Winners From The 2023 Africa Tech Festival Awards

The winners in the Africa Tech Festival awards were determined by an expert panel of judges who looked at the entries of each of the finalists and scored them against a set of criteria.

The Africa Tech Festival has announced the winners of its 2023 awards at an ongoing event in Cape Town, South Africa. The winners emerged from the 30 finalists in the 10 award categories — where each category had 3 finalists, said to be powering change and working to bridge the digital divide across Africa.

The winners in each category were determined by an expert panel of judges from the Africa Tech Festival who looked at the entries of each of the finalists and scored them against a criteria that determined the overall winners.

The 10 categories included; the Creative Visionary Award, Connecting for All Award, Innovation for Impact, CXO of the Year, Changing Lives Award, Female Innovator of the Year Award, Sustainability Champion of the Year, Fintech Innovation Award, Startup of the Year Award, and HealthTech Innovation of the Year Award.

The top honors for the Africa Tech Festival Awards 2023 in each category were;

  • Connectivity For All Award —  Avanti Communications.
  • Innovation for Impact Award — MTN Uganda.
  • CXO of the Year Award — Ahmed Yusef, CEO, Hormuud Telecom.
  • Changing Lives Award — Vodacom Foundation DRC.
  • Female Innovator of the Year Award — Néné Maïga, CEO, Orange Botswana.
  • Sustainability Champion of the Year Award — South Africa MTN & Huawei.
  • Fintech Innovation of the Year Award — Mukuru.
  • Start-Up of the Year Award — Botlhale AI Solutions.
  • HealthTech Innovation of the Year Award — HealthX Africa.
  • NEW CATEGORY FOR 2023: Creative Visionary Award — Khutso Theledi.

James Williams, the Senior Event Director, of Connecting Africa and Informa Tech said, “These awards showcased the dynamic and entrepreneurial spirit that defines Africa’s tech ecosystem and the excellence and acumen of the individuals and organizations driving digital disruption.” He concluded his remarks by congratulating all this year’s winners as well as all the nominees, and everyone that participated.

The gala event also honored companies, individuals, and initiatives that have demonstrated excellence, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible with technology in Africa.

The awards happened on Nov. 15th at the sidelines of the Africa Tech Festival which is scheduled to end today.

Africa Tech Festival is a standout, not only in its recognition of the achievements of the companies and people who are making a difference in the lives of countless Africans, but for its reputation as an unforgettable evening of fun, food, and conversation in the company of some of the industry’s hottest talent.
