The Samsung Galaxy A8s Launched, Features, Specs & Availability
South Korean electronics firm; Samsung on Monday finally launched their Galaxy A8s handsets. This succeeds the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) that was launched in Sep. 2018. Samsung beat Chinese manufacturer; Huawei to launching a “hole-punched” designed selfie camera smartphone.
Samsung launched its Infinity-O display handset at an unveiling event held in China. While we’ve come to see the notch being the trend with Apple’s iPhone X being the pioneer of this, with the new hole-in-the-screen design of the Galaxy A8s and the upcoming Huawei Nova 4, it tries to change things up by letting go of the notch trend.
The Infinity-O display with a small hole in the display to house the selfie camera was the highlight of the handset. Other major features and specs looked at were the triple rear camera, 8GB RAM, and fingerprint sensor.
Galaxy A8s Design and Specifications
The phone sports the Infinity-O Display with a hole on the top left edge of the screen for the 24MP selfie camera sensor. This is also the smartphone’s biggest differentiating point, the fact that it sports a true bezel-less display screen. The back has the triple camera setup stacked vertically and a fingerprint sensor. At the bottom has the USB Type-C port, Speaker Grills, and a Microphone. The power and volume buttons are housed on the right edge, and the SIM tray is seen on the left edge.
The dual-SIM runs on Android 8.1 Oreo powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core SoC paired with Adreno 616 GPU, with 6GB and 8GB RAM options. In addition, has 128GB of onboard storage which is expandable to 512GB via microSD.
On camera setup, the triple rear camera comes with 24MP main sensor, 10MP telephoto sensor, and 5MP depth sensor. Meanwhile, the front facing shooter has a 24MP sensor.
The Galaxy A8s is supported on a 3,400mAh non-removable battery that supports fast charging. Connectivity options include NFC support, GPS, USB Type-C, and Bluetooth.

Unfortunately the price hasn’t been mentioned yet. Meanwhile, it handset will be available in 6GB/8GB RAM + 128GB storage storage options. Pre-orders are open in China, and come in Black, Blue, and Silver color options.[related-posts]
