Laboremus Emerges Finalist For The Global World Bank Competition

World Bank challenge innovators to develop solutions that increase inclusion and access to digital platforms such as identification systems.

Ugandan technology and software firm; Laboremus has been selected as one of the 6 finalists that will present their solution to the World Bank during their Annual General Meeting on October 21st, 2020.

The company with other five are competing in the “Mission Billion Challenge” – which is seeking innovative solutions to increase inclusion and access to digital platforms such as identification systems.

Laboremus will be present their solution – a faster reliable and simple verification system that uses the Ugandan National Identification Card to empower the underserved, rural population. It is this system that Laboremus now seeks support from the World Bank to make available to a larger set of organizations and companies seeking to reach the underbanked and underserved population in Uganda and beyond.

Notably, the challenge saw more than 160 applicants from almost 50 countries apply. The challenge seeks to make ID systems more accessible and responsive to the needs of vulnerable persons, especially in the light of COVID-19.

In Uganda, Laboremus is currently developing a digital ID verification system for Bank of Uganda that will be used by all banks and other licensed financial service providers in the country.
