NITA Unveils Two More Judges for the eGovernment Excellence Awards

The National Information Technology Authority (NITA) Uganda has two announced two more judges for the eGovernment excellence Awards. The announcement was made at the eGovernment expo that is happening at garden city in Kampala.

Dr. Agnes Rwashana Semwanga and Japheth Kawanguzi as two judges will join DFCU Group CEO, Matthias Katamba — who happens to be the head judge. Katamba was announced head judge on Tuesday 18th, June 2019.

Dr. Agnes Rwashana Semwanga is an associate professor of Information Systems at Makerere University while Japheth Kawanguzi is the Founder, tech and incubation hub; The Innovation Village.

NITA launched the eGovernment Excellence Awards last month as a way to recognize government MDAs playing a remarkable role in availing online government service to the public.

The awards are running under the theme “Bold Digital Government: Unlocking Service Delivery”. NITA Uganda’s Act. ED; Peter Kahiigi says the awards aim to share experiences with various government entities across the country.

The categories for the awards are — Outstanding Web-portal Award, e-Service Excellence, e-Government Agency of the Year, e-Government Citizens’ Choice Award, and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Year.

NITA-U has partnered with Ernst Young to ensure that there is a high caliber of adjudication and quality assurance, thereby delivering a credible and reputable vetting process.

Unlike other categories, e-Government Citizens’ Choice Award is open for the general public to vote. The award looks at government MDAs that delivery efficient and effective services to the citizens. The MDAs listed for this category are; Electoral Commission, DCIC, KCCA, NWSC, NSSF, UNEB, URA, URSB, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development. (VOTE)

Slated to happen on Thursday 27th, June 2019, the award ceremony is to take place at the Speke Resort Munyonyo.
