Uganda’s own health startup; DigiHealth Limited on Sunday 28th, September 2018 won the Best Innovation in Health, at the Women in Africa Summit held in Marrakech, Morrocco – with King Mohammed VI graced as the Chief Guest.
The startup took to their official Facebook page to share the announcement, saying, quote “We are excited to announce that last night we proudly represented Uganda at the Women in Africa Summit in Marrakech, Morrocco and scooped the award for the best innovation in health!”

Their innovation DigiHealth Limited, formerly known as Data Health Harvesters is a team of hardworking developers, business colleagues, health experts – who have developed a web-based and a mobile app platforms to digitizes the manual patient data collection for medical professionals who conduct outreaches – so that the data collected can be accurate, secure, and can be easily transferable from one hospital to another in one way or the other.
DigiHealth Limited looked at at current problem where patient data is collected manually in most clinics and hospitals, especially in the rural areas.
Previously the team participated in the recent Seedstar Kampala pitch competition, where they pitched the same idea to panel of judges; CK Japhet; Team Leader at Innovation Village, Otim Gerald; Founder of Ensibuuko, Takuma Terakubo Founder and CEO of Leapfrog Ventures, Maryam Mgonja; Associate for East Africa at Seedstars, and Herve Kubwimana, Innovation Facilitator at Merck – where AgricTech startup; Agro Supply Limited emerged winner.
DigiHealth Limited has represented and participated in many innovation and startup challengers and looked at as one of the promising health innovation. Last year, the startup emerged Overall Winners of the Up Accelerate Demo Day – a health-based innovation focused on empowering youth to address sexual and reproductive health bottlenecks.
The Women in Africa Summit was the second of its kind. The summit is an international platform dedicated to the for economic development and support of leading and high potential African women.
