However, MTN Pulsers are getting a better deal since under the new partnership, SafeBoda will provide them with free rides worth 5,000 UGX in credit every month based on MTN Pulse bundles that they activate.
Hellen Kirungi; Youth Segment Manager of MTN Uganda, speaking at the press brief said that customers will be required to buy as many MTN Pulse bundles as possible to stand a chance of being credited with 5,000 UGX worth of safeboda credits.
“We’re aware that our MTN Pulsers move a lot on boda bodas but do so with a lot of fear. With this partnership, we look forward to MTN Pulsers using Safeboda a safe means of transport to move with no fear. There is no fear in terms of safety since they can use helmets when riding and no fear of spending a lot on transport money as the service is affordable,” she said.
Brenda Nambatya, the Brand and Partnerships Manager for SafeBoda Uganda added on Hellen remarks saying the death toll in Uganda from road accidents is increasing at a worrying rate.
“The number of people killed in boda accidents today are more than doubled between 2011 and 2016. Our aim is therefore to constantly innovate to professionalize transportation and ensure safe access to mobility especially for the youth,” she said.[related-posts]
MTN Uganda launched the MTN Pulse platform on Thursday 15th February targeting the youth, giving them the power to be themselves, unleash their full potential and live life with No Fear. In addition, the platform was launched alongside its own mobile data packages; MTN Pulse, MTN Pulse plus, and MTN Weekend bundle.
Hardly two months after the pulse launch, MTN Uganda is still giving more and more benefits to its pulsers. Some of them include; discount offers on Jumia services every Tuesday, Free gaming and downloads every Thursday, Free MTN Pulse data every Friday if they bought at KFC, and so forth.
For those that are unaware, the birth of MTN Pulse, marked the conclusion of a month-long teaser campaign called #NoFear. During the campaign, MTN had several of its billboards in Kampala ‘defaced’ and sprayed with the words #NoFear in what was viewed as a bold, fearless act of expression, which are desirable traits sought in the Pulsers’ movement.
