The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ begun receiving the Android 8.0 Orea update last week on Friday, it’s been now a week and according to new reports the South Korean firm has pulled the plug for the update. Notably, Samsung begun the beta testing for Android Oreo in the two flagship smartphones back in November 2017. Three months later, it started to roll out the final version only to apparently halt it.
There are no mentions/comments from the smartphone firm as to why the rollout has been halted. However, according to SamMobile, the rollout was halted after being released in various markets around the world. As per its report, the G950/G955-FXXU1CRAP Android 8.0 firmware files are unavailable for download as of now.
It’s also been reported the company is developing a new firmware version. SamMobile says that the new Oreo build should be available for download soon, though there is no timeline currently.
Android Oreo update for Samsung Galaxy
The update for Samsung mobiles features a new launcher shortcuts, colored media notifications, improvements to biometric functions, improvements to Samsung keyboard, Dual Messenger, a revamped about menu in Settings, among others.
Furthermore, the Oreo update itself includes notification dots, autofill, contextual app shortcuts, Picture-in-Picture, faster boot time.[related-posts]
As we wait for the unveiling of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ at the MWC in Barcelona later this month, its been reported that the flagships will come coupled with the Android Oreo alongside a new version of its TouchWiz UX.
