The Buganda Kingdom owned telecommunications company, K2 telecom has been switched off for close to a week, PC Tech Magazine has learned.
The company’s subscribers are neither able to make or receive calls from any network, since Monday.
Sources inside the company have revealed that the switch off is due to technical problems stemming from their hosts, Uganda Telecom and Smart Telecom.
When contacted, Livingstone Kitata, the K2 Telecom Public Relations Officer says the issue was reported to the hosts although not much has been done to have it resolved.
“But we hope the matter will be resolved within the next 72 hours,” Kitata reportedly said.
Established in January 2013, the K2 telecom which offers voice, SMS and data services has close to 150,000 subscribers.
After its launch, the telco was the sixth in the telecommunication industry offering calls, voice, and data after Airtel, MTN, UTL, Smart Telecom, and Africell.
The network has a national coverage and uses code 073.
