Automotive technology specialist Delphi has announced a partnership with BlackBerry on a software operating system for self-driving cars.
In a statement the companies said the BlackBerry QNX OS for Safety will facilitate Delphi’s proprietary Ottomatika software algorithms and middleware, to enhance performance and safety.
Delphi is looking to launch its own automated driving solution for car manufacturers and mobility service fleet operators in 2019 and the company said BlackBerry’s QNX will provide a robust software infrastructure for the system, called CSLP, which is due to appear in production vehicles in 2021.
BlackBerry added that its OS is intended to guard against system malfunctions, malware and cyber attacks by implementing a multi-level, policy-driven security model that incorporates BlackBerry’s security technology.
