HMD Global Unveils the Nokia 9 PureView With 5-Rear Cameras

Nokia 9 PureView is unveiled at the 2019 Mobile World Congress (MWC) after months of leaks and speculation.

Mobile World Congress, is one of the biggest phone showcase in the world. Smartphone firms come and exhibit, as well as launch some of their latest handset flagships, and other tech-related products. Well, HMD Global, could miss out to book a booth at the event.

HMD Global has so far launched three handsets including; Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 210 Feature Phone, and the Nokia 9 PureView. But in this article we look at the Nokia 9 PureView, after its Penta-Lens Camera took the spot light at the event. The camera setup houses three black and white, and two RGB lenses – all with the same f/1.82 aperture.

HMD Global, is trying its best to have its spot among the best smartphone giants in the world. The company has launched some of its best premium smartphones, but the numbers are still not that favored at all.

The Nokia 9 PureView is a premium smartphone coming with a price tag of USD$699 (roughly UGX2.6 million). HMD Global has made it available for pre-orders effective immediately in select markets around the world. Official sales open in March 2019.

Specs and Features
The Nokia 9 PureView comes with a 5.99-inch Quad-HD+ (1440×2960 pixels) POLED display with as screen aspect ratio of 18.5:9. It is powered by a 10nm Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 chipset, with a GPU of Adreno 630 paired with a 6GB RAM and 128GB of on-board storage, and runs of Android 9.0 (Pie). Does not support a microSD card.

It is backed on a non-removable Li-Po 3320mAh battery. It’s charging system supports, fast battery charging of 18W (Quick Charge 3.0), as well as fast wireless charging 10W.

In terms of connectivity, the Nokia 9 PureView, supports Wi-Fi 802.11, BlueTooth v5.0, GPS, NFC, and USB v3.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. There’s no provision of a 3.5mm earphone jack, as the company rested it for Bluetooth and wireless connectivity.

The interesting part comes to the cameras. The Nokia 9 PureView is seen with Penta (5) Lens Camera setup. The housing gives 3 black and white, and 2 RGB lenses working simultaneously. All come with a 12MP sensor with an aperture of f/1.8. In addition, features Zeiss optics, dual-LED dual-tone flash, HDR, and panorama. In terms of video, the cameras have the capability to shoot 2160p at 30fps and 1080p at 30fps.

Meanwhile, the front camera is a single shoot with a 20MP sensor which is able to shoot HDR while the video part shoots 1080p at 30fps.

The Nokia 9 PureView comes with the ultrasonic display fingerprint sensor we previously saw on the Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones that were launched last week at the company’s unpacked event in San Francisco.
