Adobe releases Photoshop Lightroom 5

Lightroom51Adobe has today announced the launch of the final version of the product, two months after the release of Photoshop Lightroom 5 in public beta

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 can be purchased as an individual license or as part of Adobe Creative Cloud at $149 for the standalone software and $79 for upgrades from previous Lightroom versions.

It is now available for a trial or purchase on Adobe.com, and also as a free update to Creative Cloud members.

Lightroom is aimed at both passionate amateur photographers and professionals alike. It has been touted as a useful tool that allows photographers to easily tweak their photos and make whatever corrections they think are necessary.

The final version of Lightroom 5 incorporates features from Lightroom 5 beta including an advanced “healing brush”, radial filter and slideshows that mix video and still images. It has also fixed more than 400 bugs and added in new features such as the ability for users to share photos using the Behance Publish Service.

Adobe acquired New York-based portfolio sharing network Behance late last year for an undisclosed amount, and last month Thumb Labs, the digital agency that developed Behance’s official mobile apps, announced that it was joining Adobe full time to work with the Behance team.

Adobe last month announced its move away from Creative Suite to focus entirely on a new suite of Creative Cloud-only apps and services featuring Photoshop CC, InDesign CC, Illustrator CC, Dreamweaver CC, Premiere Pro CC, deep integration with Behance social features, desktop access to Typekit and more.
