WhatsApp May Soon Allow iOS Users’ Edit, Revoke Sent Messages and Preview Shared Archive Files

WhatsApp is tipped to add a new feature to its iPhone app that will let you edit and revoke sent messages. The upcoming feature is said to be disabled by default for WhatsApp for iPhone beta app users, though it’s expected to be available soon. Another tipped feature is the ability to preview shared archive files, such as ZIP and RAR files.

Apart from edit option, as we mentioned, WhatsApp for iPhone users will also get a revoke option which will mean that the sent message never existed. However, this probably will work only in the case if the recipient hasn’t seen the message from the sender. Currently, WhatsApp lets users delete messages on the device level and the deleted messages remain visible to the recipient.

The upcoming feature to edit or revoke sent message will work by long pressing a sent message. Unfortunately, there is no word when the new feature will be available to WhatsApp for Android beta users. The news was first reported by @WABetaInfo that tracks beta releases of the app and it also tweeted an image showing the upcoming feature.

WhatsApp earlier this month received an update that brought two new features – streaming videos while they download, and animated GIF image support to the Android app. Earlier, the two features were available to WhatsApp beta users only.

With the new WhatsApp video streaming, users were able to play videos right away without waiting for it to download first. Another feature available to users out of WhatsApp beta was the animated GIF image support. In WhatsApp, users can now send GIF via the attach file button which will open the Gallery on the device, and users can find the right GIF image to be shared.
