Rocket Internet plans to incubate four new startups in Asia every year

German internet platform Rocket Internet has ambitious plans to launch one new venture every three months in the Asia Pacific region.

According to a press release by the company, the rollout of new companies is part of its strategy to build one of the largest internet platforms in the APAC region. The first launch as part of this strategy will be online beauty marketplace Vaniday, starting in Australia. Vaniday provides customers with a curated selection of offers while allowing them to book treatments such as massages, hair appointments and manicures online.

This business quest will be led by Rock Internet’s Singapore-based outfit Asia Pacific Internet Group (APACIG) – a joint venture with Qatari telco provider Ooredoo.  Rocket Internet has a 50% stake in APACIG which began its operations in the Asia Pacific region in early 2014.

APACIG already unites 14 Rocket Internet ventures operating across 15 countries. Among those are retail portal Lamudi, vehicle marketplace Carmudi, cleaning platform Helpling and Amazon-alike Daraz.

Our portfolio of companies fits the macroeconomic trends of different regions and the demand for new online businesses,” Hanno Stegmann, CEO of APACIG, said.
