Hackers have targeted the website of the Ghana’s electoral commission, taking it offline a day after presidential polls in the West African nation.

The Ghana Electoral Commission says it “deplores the attempt to hack” its website.

On its Twitter account is said that a screen grab purporting to show that opposition candidate opposition leader Nana Akufo Addo was leading against incumbent President John Mahama was a fake.

It is not clear if the screen grab actually appeared on its website, which is currently failing to load.

Official results are expected before Saturday evening – 72 hours after polls closed.
