She Leads Africa Launches Dark and Lovely x SLA Beauty Accelerator for Beauty Startups

Business/Entrepreneurship community-based firm; She Leads Africa has opened a 10-week entrepreneurship development programme aimed at supporting early-stage entrepreneurs building businesses in the beauty industry – for its its Dark and Lovely x SLA Beauty Accelerator.

Interested participants will have to send in their applications not later than September 1st, 2017 where only five entrepreneurs will be selected to participate in an intensive programme which includes a bootcamp in Johannesburg, South Africa and also have access to business coaches with experience in the skills entrepreneurs need to succeed.

She Leads Africa is looking for creative businesses from all across the beauty industry, including: media platforms that make it easier for women to learn beauty techniques, discover new styles and connect with customers, physical products that enhance the beauty process, software and services – in technology; that support the beauty industry, retail platforms that simplify the buying process for consumers, and so forth.

The 10-week entrepreneurship development programme seeks to entrepreneurrs in the beauty businesses advance to a higher level, improve their strategy and management skills, meet beauty industry stakeholders, connect with international investors, and also to stand a chance to win USD$5000 (roughly 18,025,000 UGX) to invest in their business.

“Entrepreneurs in the program will focus on business strategy, growth marketing, finance and branding. If selected, you’ll receive intensive support from the SLA team, Dark and Lovely team and industry experts. The program will end with an opportunity to pitch your business to investors and stakeholders in the beauty industry for a chance to win cash to support your growth,” She Leads Africa writes in a press statement.

The programme is limited to beauty startups in Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa, that have been in operation for less than 3 years and has received no more than USD$50,000 (roughly 180.3 Million UGX) in external investment, and with at least one woman aged between18 – 35 years as a Founder/Owner
