Treepz Celebrates Tremendous Growth They Have Made in The Past 3 Months

Treepz Inc. has successfully achieved a milestone of 1 million bookings completed across the three countries Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda where it currently operates.

Treepz Inc. has today announced that it has successfully achieved a milestone of 1 million bookings completed across the three countries Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda where it currently has operations in.

“This milestone achievement has largely been driven by our inter-continent expansion, great business decisions, and efforts of the team,” Onyeka Akumah, the Chief Executive Officer of Treepz said in a statement. “It would also not have been possible without the dedicated service of our heroes [drivers], partners, and the loyalty of our esteemed riders.”

Akumah said the company is excited about this tremendous growth and progress they have made in the past 3 months with their weekly rides increasing at a rapid rate.

The 1 million bookings according to the company span across the three core services the business offers:

  1. Daily Treepz — is a service that focuses on connecting riders to heroes [drivers commuting within cities daily.
  2. Travel Treepz — is a business service that allows users to search, compare, and directly book travel bus tickets on our platform. This service was designed to help commuters travel and connect cities with ease.
  3. Corporate Treepz — is the solution used to manage to transport individuals for businesses daily. This could be employees, students, or fulfillment of any private or official transportation need.

Treepz Inc. says it is building Africa’s largest shared mobility platform, using technology to offer predictable, structured, and accessible transportation services for every African on their daily commute. With its current operations in Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda, Treepz Inc. plans to expand to five (5) other African countries —setting to disrupt the transportation sector with unique services such as shared daily and travel rides.

Their 1 million booking milestone comes after they had won the Global Startup Awards for African Industrial Technology Company of the year.

Treepz has operations in Uganda after they had acquired Ugabus, a Ugandan bus company that aggregates inter-city bus operators. Akumah said that the acquisition of Ugabus was funded with a recent USD$1.5 million raise that acted as an extension to one of Treepz’s previous seed rounds.

The acquisition, saw Treepz fully acquire all of Ugabus’ operations and staff, marking their first entry into the East African market. Ugabus, which was renamed Treepz Uganda on December 1st, 2021 at the time had 70% of all the country’s bus operators on its platform, which includes around 50,000 customers that use the service to travel between cities in Uganda.

Treepz plans to extend into Tanzania and Burundi first. “Those are places we will pay attention to in 2022,” Akumah said at the time they announced the acquisition of Ugabus. He also said they are interested in Ethiopia. “In 2022, we will consolidate on our positions on East Africa and West Africa and start collapsing into on in sub-Saharan Africa.”
