Makerere University in conjunction with the Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) will host the sixth edition of the National Conference on Communications (NCC) under the theme ‘Connectivity, Resilience, and Innovation in the Covid-19 Era’. The conference is set to kick off on March 3rd to 4th, 2021, with a Paper-Writing and Publishing Masterclass being the highlight..

The sixth edition conference will focus on communications technology trends including; the 4th Industrial Revolution, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, ICT security issues for developing countries, and 5G cellular networks and systems, to mention a few. In addition, the conference will also profile outstanding ICT projects.

Researchers, academia, practitioners, and students on the other hand will have a platform to discuss issues relevant to the communications sector, identify new research challenges, share solutions and discuss science and technology trends relevant to developing countries.

The National Conference on Communications initiated by UCC in 2010 offers a platform to identify new research challenges, share solutions and discuss issues relevant to the communications sector of Uganda. Among its key objectives is to provide a national forum for the presentation of outputs of peer-reviewed research with a view to turning them into workable solutions for local challenges.

The NCC aims to promote innovation, research and collaboration around emerging technologies, offering a platform to brainstorm on how they can be leveraged to provide solutions for everyday problems in all sectors – from health (notably Covid-19), agriculture, business to entertainment.
