BRCK partners with eLimu to launch BRCK Education

Kenya’s BRCK, a rugged internet generator for marginalized areas has launched  a new division dubbed BRCK Education to provide hardware and software solutions to enable online and offline learning in Kenya and across Africa.

BRCK Education will be led by Nivi Mukherjee, the CEO & C0-founder eLimu which will remain operational and independent despite her appointment. This is not an acqui-re.

TechMoran reported that BRCK Co-founder Juliana Rotich said, “Its not an acqui-hire at this time, eLimu under Marie Githinji and Sam will work with BRCK Inc. In the Education space and will continue to operate and exist on its own.”

eLimu will thrive as a content publisher, and focus on what it loves to do, which is produce great digital content while BRCK Education will further enable eLimu’s efforts by providing ​schools with the hardware, software and connectivity for them to access digital content such as eLimu.

Rotich added that through this division, BRCK aims to creatively and effectively deliver 21st century technology that will revolutionize the education sector and eventually take digital literacy in Kenya and in the African continent to the next level.”

Ms Mukherjee founded eLimu to spearhead the digitization of KCPE curriculum content for Kenyan upper primary students and the development of a literacy application in English and Kiswahili. As president BRCK Education, she will drive curation of localized and culturally relevant digital content that will improve the learning experience and outcomes for millions of students on the continent.

BRCK can support up to 40 devices, has an 8-hour battery life when the power is out, and can jump from Ethernet, to WiFi, to 3G, to 4G seamlessly.
