The ICT Association of Uganda is a multi-stakeholder initiative that was founded on May 16th, 2013 by a group of private individuals from Uganda to provide professional guidance and advisory services to individuals & organizations in the private sector and Governments respectively. They conduct and disseminate research and the advocacy and establishment of projects and policies concerning the adoption and usage of development informatics in Uganda.
Their vision of contributing to Uganda’s technological development by organizing key ICT stakeholders under one body capable of promoting ICT research & advocate projects and policies concerning the adoption and usage of ICTs by the underserved & unreached in Uganda and with a mission of creating an effective network between all practitioners, researchers, policy makers, government & industry to facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration in development informatics in Uganda, the association seeks to become the foremost and largest forum for ICT practitioners, managers, researchers & policy makers to share their knowledge and experience on the technology, adoption, localization, management and policy of development informatics in Uganda.
The newly elected board of ICTAU:
James Makumbi – Chairman
James is a software developer. He develops software’s to manage/share/store business information based on the Microsoft operating systems, with all popular databases, the .Net Framework and a healthy serving of Developer Express tools and controls.
He is also the founder of Billable Ltd.
Evelyn Namara – Vice Chairperson
Evelyn is passionate about Technology for Development (ICT4D), Social Innovation, Education Technology (EdTech) and empowering women in technology.
Joanitah Nalubega – Treasurer
Joanitah is a qualified Industrial Chemist with a deep passion for technology, with specific interest in the finding solutions for the health sector using technology. She has worked as a website developer and content manager at Node Six and a content editor for PC Tech Magazine.
She’s also a holder of a Post Graduate Certificate in Applied ICT In Health and Leadership and is currently working with Afrigal Tech, a team of young women to design and develop an alternative and mobile diagnostics tool for sickle cell Anemia.
She is skilled in operation of digital communications platforms, social media and likes to travel in her free time.
Colin Asiimwe – Secretary General
Colin is a communications and advertising strategist passionate about the evolution of communication. He has worked on various brands across the East African region on ideas and campaigns across multiple categories to deliver richer, fuller impact.
Strong on the ideation narrative and keen on insight mining, Colin’s passion to disrupt things has also led him into the start-up scene and is currently working with other young people across the region to build what they envision the future of East Africa to be; connected, African and smart.
Brian Ssenogga – Director in charge of education and training
Brian is passionate about all things ICT, Health and Training. He is a co-founder and Director of The Uganda Center for Open Source Software. He is an experienced Trainer in ICT Concepts, Open Source Solutions, and Linux Courses with COSS.ug.
Brian serves the Free and Open Source Software Foundation for Africa, as Secretary General and has co-authored an LPI study with FOSSFA and GIZ’s ict@innovations’ project.
Boaz Shani – Director in charge of Administration
Boaz is social media Coach, ICT Consultant, Founder of ICTAU and also the PRO AV Consultant at Technet East Africa Solution Ltd; the leading distributors of Professional Audio Visual manufacturers in Eat Africa.
Joshua Twinamasiko – Director in charge of Human Resources
Joshua is passionate about the power that technology has to transform the way we do business in Uganda and to change people’s lives. He is the Co-founder and Managing Director of PC Tech Magazine, one of the top websites in Uganda.
He has over 8 years of working online in web development, digital communications and marketing. Joshua who calls himself a “serial entrepreneur” also runs Ora, an online store that sells themed and custom made T-Shirts and often speaks on the opportunities that the internet brings to young innovators doorsteps.
Joseph Kaizzi – Director in charge of Development
Joseph is a mentor, teacher, tech-enthusiast and technical advisor. He is leveraging IoT to address development challenges.
He is also the founder and CEO of ThinVoid.
Dennis Kamugisha – Director in charge of Audit
Denis is a telecommunication engineer with certification in computer security and networks. He is currently working with Saracen Uganda as Technical Manager and ICT support.
Michael Niyitegeka – Members’ representative
Michael is an ICDL Africa Accreditation Consultant for Uganda, an expert in Leadership Development, and Business Technology Strategy, a Franklin Covey Certified Facilitator.
He possesses 17 years of working experience in both the private and public sectors. He has also worked with Makerere University for 12 years in varied capacities as a researcher, trainer and head of Corporate Relations.
