Intership UG wins Kampala round of SeedStars World Competition

Intership UG – a startup that allows users to shop from online shopping sites in the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), Dubai and China and have their packages delivered to Uganda – has won the Kampala round of the Seedstars World competition and will represent Uganda next year in Geneva at the Seedstars World final.

Beating off competition from 10 other startups that had gone head to head in pitching sessions at Outbox Hub Kampala on Friday.

Intership UG will now represent Uganda at the Seedstars World final in Geneva, Switzerland next year, where it will compete for up to US$500,000 in equity investment.

SafeBoda, an app that helps users pick safe bodaboda riders came second with Wizarts Media, an online radio news portal taking third place.

The top three startups walked away with a host of free software tools, one year of mentoring on brand strategy and public relations by Corporate Image and three months of free keywords on shortcode provided by Africa’s Talking.

Stanbic Bank Uganda, Seedstars World, Google for Entrepreneurs and Corporate Image championed the startup competition for emerging markets in Uganda.
