Johnson & Johnson Launches a Global eHealth Challenge

Earlier this year in March, we reported that US based Pharmaceutical firm; Johnson & Johnson will launch the GenH Challenge – after seeing success of their first annual edition of the Africa Innovation Challenge 2017 that saw one of Uganda’s innovation Project Pedal Tap named among the winners.

The GenH challenge is a global social venture competition challenging entrepreneurs and innovators that can design locally-tailored and globally-relevant solutions to enduring health challenges.

Organisations, both for-profit and non-profit, from all over the world are eligible to apply, but when submitting in their proposals/ideas, they must have received under USD$250,000 funding or been in development for five years or under. In addition, each team must include someone who works at the front lines of care.

All valid submissions will participate in a Peer-to-Peer Review process designed not only to surface the most promising ideas, but also to build community and share the exciting, innovative work emerging from the front lines of care. An Evaluation Panel of esteemed judges will score and comment upon the top 75 applications, using four criteria: human-centered, impactful, creative, and feasible.

After judging process (of the 75 applications), finalists will be invited to attend a free, one-week, skills-based workshop hosted by Johnson & Johnson to build capacity among the team members, and later pitch their ideas to a selection committee consisting of Johnson & Johnson team members and global experts in health and innovation.

Ultimately, 6 teams will win up to USD$250,000 from a USD$1 million prize purse—USD$600,000 in cash prizes and USD$400,000 in non-financial rewards such as capacity-building and engagement with experts in the Johnson & Johnson network.

Register to send in your applications and be able to participate in the challenge. (FOLLOW THIS LINK)
