Youtube has introduced Mobile Livestreaming

Yesterday, Google-owned video giant YouTube announced that live streaming on its mobile app is now possible.

This makes  YouTube a direct competitor with Facebook, Periscope &Meerkat.

To live stream all you have to do is click a red capture button in the corner of the app. You can also take or select a photo to use as a thumbnail, and you broadcast live to fans.

Neal Mohan, chief product officer at YouTube said live streaming is not something that’s new to them, adding that they are always thinking about new ways to capitalize on immersive digital video in general.

Youtube has been offering live streaming since 2011, when they broadcast the Royal Wedding live and again in 2012 during Felix Baumgartner’s supersonic freefall.

YRecently, they became the first to ever broadcast a 360-degree live stream during Coachella, where more than 21 million people tuned in to watch live.
