Safeboda Recruits its Second Female Rider, Dathive Mukeshimana

Moto-taxi hailing firm; Safeboda Uganda has recruited another female rider Dathive Mukeshimana. She now joins Naume Awero who happened to be the only female ride of the Bukoto-based company since 2017.

Dathive finished off the monthly training and now she is registered with safeboda number (SB) 9341. Naume holds the number SB 1166.

Safeboda’s first-ever rider; Moses Musinguzi took to social media to show the excitement of the company having a second female rider. In his Facebook post, he said quote, “Meet the second strong female safeboda in history. Please let’s welcome her and give her a word of motivation.”

Safeboda have leveraged the moto-taxi hailing business since its 2014, revolutionizing the moto-taxi transportation mode. Being the pioneers of the industry, it drew to the birth of UberBoda, Bolt (previously Taxify Boda), Dial Jack, among others. However, with the stiff competition the Bukoto-based firm still tops the industry with almost 10, 000 riders.

Early this year, the company celebrated five years of existence in Uganda, throwing a massive party for its riders together with their families. The event was attended by media, graced by Cabinet Minister of Kampala Capital City Authority, Honorable Betty Kamya and Ronald Amanyire, Secretary at National Road Safety Council .

Safeboda’s Communication Manager; Damalie Wasukira, told this reporter that the company expects to reach 10,000 riders in the Q2 of 2019.

Therefore, as the number grows – and not only for safeboda but digital riders at large, Rapa Thomson Ricky Safeboda Co-founder, called upon the government to help protect the riders due to a number of violent cases they have reported of being harassed by traditional riders.

Meanwhile, Dathive says she’s happy to join safeboda and looks at doing her best.[related-posts]
