Jaguza Market to Bridge the Gap Between Farmers & Customers

Jaguza Technologies has launched a new product to their arsenal, an e-Commerce portal; Jaguza Market to bridge the gap between commercial farmers and customers using traditional methods of selling their produce/livestock.

The company is working with vendors to sale products ranging from livestock, poultry, vet instruments, diagnostics tools, among others. Customers are in position to by Direct Bank Transfer (DTB), Check Payments or Cash on Delivery (COD).

In a press brief, the company’s Founder and CEO; Ronald Katamba said, “we’re working on integrating Mobile Money API to our system adding it as a payment option.”

Just like an other e-Commerce platform, customers choose/select their products add to cart — same process happens to the Jaguza Market. On the livestock and poultry options, the customer can negotiate on the price with the seller. In this process as well, the customers can ask a series of questions to verify if what they buying is authentic.

After negotiation, the animal(s) is(are) added to the customers cart to check out.

Katamba said he looked at the commercial farmers using tradition methods of selling their produce — giving an example of his grandfather in Kanugu. He says creating Jaguza Market will help farmers have a wide reach.

Farmers uploading livestock for Sale
Farmers currently using the platform to sale their livestock go through a verification process to ensure what they’re selling is right. When s/he uploads the pictures of the livestock(s), a team at Jaguza has to approve them before being uploaded.

Jaguza has agents who go to farmers — physically to verify the animal(s) basing on the description they sent. After verification, they are uploaded on the platform for sale.

“We have to verify these animal(s) that farmers list up for sale. We need to build a trust with our customers that they get authentic and health animals,” said Katamba.

Notably, farmers can use USSD to request access to the platform. S/he sends a messaging to 6115 Jaguza Technologies’ USSD code.

S/he types SALE (product name) and sends to 6115. An agent goes to assess the livestock, create the farmers account and the have their livestock uploaded for sale.
