Dislike Button finally coming to Facebook

CEO Mark Zuckerberg during a Q&A session at Facebook HQ has revealed that the company is working on something people have been clamoring for for a long time: a dislike button.

He acknowledged that people have wanted a dislike button for many years, and for the first time gave concrete indication the company is working on providing a solution.

The button will be about “expressing empathy,” and not about fostering negativity.

The Like button is not appropriate for certain topics – sad news about the refugee crisis, for instance – and that a wider gamut of reactions could help people to more accurately express their emotions without needing to type out a full comment.

The CEO expects the new feature to begin public testing soon, and it will roll it out to everyone if people end up embracing it.
