Prepare For the Up-Coming MTN 2016 Kampala Marathon Like a Geek

Dubbed as the largest telecom company in Uganda, MTN also known for it’s November Marathon events, earlier this week they launched their 13th annual Kampala Marathon – following the theme “Run for Kampala”, with a mission to rally runners to raise funds for the implementation of improved sanitation facilities for pupils through the construction of environmentally friendly smart bio-toilet facilities in a number of selected public primary schools in the outskirts Kampala.

On 20th November, all roads will lead to Kololo Airstrip where the event is scheduled to take place. The MTN Marathon which started in 2004 with 1500 runners has grown so popular over the years that along the way, it has attracted over 20,000 participants.

Together with it’s partners Stanbic Bank, Huawei, New Vision, Rwenzori Mineral water, Uganda Police, and Uganda Athletic Federation, the MTN Kampala Marathon promises some big attractions this year with registration inquiries coming from as far as the Netherlands.

According to MTN Uganda, the 13th edition of the internationally recognized MTN Kampala Marathon promises to be an exciting mix of fun and competitive running.

Aside from the branded water bottle, cap and vest, that MTN gives you for the run, here’s a few things that might help you out:

Your Smartphone
We highly recommend to carry your smartphone with you, probably you might want to listen to music on the run or probably install some apps to track your run, you will definitely need to carry your smartphone.

Fitness Mobile Tracking App
We recommend you have RunKeeper, or MapMyRun app which are available for download at your app and play stores. These apps are capable of giving you quite some info on their own just from using your phones sensors. With your GPS on, you’ll get a clear view of your run in real time.

Probably the apps have a Bluetooth Connectivity – Wireless headphones and heart rate monitors that make great workout companions.

The FlipBelt
The FlipBelt is an easy way to store your keys, iPod, or pretty much anything else you’d need to bring along on a run. So, don’t have your house or car keys lost when you leave them hanging in your pockets because they might fall out and you might end up not noticing.

Smartphone Armband
So most of you would love to run will listening to music, but where will you put your phone? Of course you won’t be holding it in your sweaty hands. Therefore you can get yourself a simple armband that will keeps your smartphone dry and out of the way.
