Jumia Food a subsidiary company to Jumia has on Friday appointed Timothy Mugume as the new Country Manager for Uganda – who has been Jumia Travel Country Manager for Uganda. Timothy replaces Neville Igasira Igunduura who is now the Chief Marketing Officer for Jumia Uganda
“We’re excited to see Timothy bring his experience of winning in a fiercely competitive space to our Jumia Food business in Uganda. I am confident he will lead us to the next stage of growth, as we double down on offering the best food delivery experience for our customers,” Ron Kawamara, Regional Managing Director of Jumia Food told the press.
Speaking about the appointment, Timothy elaborated his plans to grow the online food delivery business in Uganda and his aspirations to mitigate existing industry challenges. He emphasized that the company has plans to expand the restaurant database and delivery radius to greater Kampala. Notably, Jumia Food works with over 160 restaurants in Kampala.
It is worthy knowing that Jumia Food has been delivering food only around Kampala, until early this month when the company expanded their food delivery service to Entebbe in partnership with KFC Uganda.
On dealing with both existing and emerging industry challenges, Timothy highlighted the need for efficient delivery services, as well reliable and affordable internet connectivity.
“Unfortunately, sometimes there are internet outages and improper signage. However, we have come up with innovative solutions to mitigate this, with for instance a zero rated app courtesy of MTN Uganda and best in class location applications specifically developed for the market,” he says.
