The 2017 MTN App Challenge Kicks-off Today

The 2017 edition of the MTN App Challenge is set to commence today, Friday afternoon.

The three-day app development challenge will see developers tussle to come up with innovative prototypes of mobile-based solutions under the themes of M-Health, M-Finance, M-Education, M-Business, M-Entertainment and M-Agriculture.

The hackathon which will be hosted at the MTN offices, Nyonyi Gardens in Kololo, has been organized in collaboration with Outbox, a leading innovation hub in Uganda.

A total of 20 teams have been selected to participate out of 99 entries that were received.

In today’s session, Fintech Entrepreneur and founder of award winning ensibuuko, Gerald Otim will deliver a Keynote address to the participants.

In addition to the five categories of the competition, the judges will also select an overall winner. The audience will also be allowed chance to select their favorite app.

Each of the winning teams will receive USD$1,000 (roughly 3,640,000 UGX), a certificate of Recognition for each team member, commercialization support from MTN, 1GB internet to all team members for 3 months and a Smartphone for each team member.[related-posts]
