HMD Global Launches it’s First Smartphone in China

After securing the exclusive Nokia brand licensing rights in mobile phones in late 2016, Finnish company that develops mobile devices under the “Nokia” brand name, HMD Global on Sunday announced the launch of its Nokia 6 smartphone in China.

According to the Finnish company, the device, which is designed explicitly with the needs of users in mind, combines quality and in-built durability to deliver a real-life premium smartphone experience at a price point for the highly aspirational Chinese consumer.

“The decision by HMD to launch its first Android smartphone into China is a reflection of the desire to meet the real world needs of consumers in different markets around the world,” the company writes in a press statement.

“We start today, with our premium, high quality Nokia 6; built to deliver a fantastic core user experience for Chinese consumers. We look forward to unveiling further products in the first half of this year,” Arto Nummela, CEO, HMD Global said in a press statement.

Specifications:
The phone comes with a 5.50-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels at a PPI of 403 pixels per inch. It measures 154.00 x 75.80 x 7.85.

The Nokia 6 is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor processor and it comes with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Nokia 6 packs a 16MP and 8MP rear and front cameras respectively.

The Nokia 6 runs Android 7.0 and is powered by a 3000mAh non removable battery.

The Nokia 6 is a dual SIM smartphone. In terms of connectivity options include; Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G and 4G. Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.

Price:
There phone is priced at 1699 CNY with no price reduction (roughly $245, UGX 889,400) on the Chinese JD website.
