Huawei Scoops ‘Best Smartphone Brand in Africa’ Award at the DIAA 2016
Huawei, leading global ICT solutions provide was recognized as the best smartphone brand in Africa during the 2016 Digital Impact Awards Africa (DIAA) held on 17th August at Kampala Serena Hotel.
DIAA is a pioneer technology research project based in Uganda that nominates exemplary organizations in provision and use of digital infrastructure; web, mobile, social media.
Huawei topped other popular smartphone brands nominated within this category including; iPhone, Lumia, Samsung and Tecno.
Commenting on the award, Jean Baguma Huawei Marketing Manager said, “We are pleased to be recognized as the best smartphone brand in Africa. She added that Huawei has categorized its smartphone brands in to four Series; Y Series for entry level smartphones, G Series for mid level smartphone, Mate Series and P Series for high end smartphones in order to sufficiently cater for the varying needs within Africa’s emerging market.
Huawei was also nominated for Digital Brand of the Year and Best Mobile Financial Service Platform for Africa.
Winners in all DIAA are decided by a combination of a research panel, public votes, and an expert, handpicked by DIAA advisory board for their breadth of knowledge and experience in ICT roles such as entrepreneurs, innovators, academic, consultants, policy makers and thought-leaders
