Photo and video sharing Social network Instagram announced that it now has over 500 million users.
Of these, 300 million use the service every day.
This is nine months since Instagram hit its previous notable milestone of 400 million users.
At the time it was acquired by Facebook the service had 30 million users.
If we are to compare with Facebook’s other services, Facebook itself is getting to two billion users, while WhatsApp recently passed one billion users.
80 percent of Instagram’s users live outside the U.S.
