New Samsung monitor wirelessly charges your smartphone

Samsung Electronics has announced a monitor which comes with a wireless charging pad to charge your smartphones while the monitor is on. The Samsung SE370 monitor has been announced in Korea and there are no pricing details out yet.

The promise of wireless charging has always been an exciting one, but a standalone charging pad, connected to a power source via a wire, still has one wire too many. Having wireless chargers integrated into devices that normally reside on your desk is a far more convenient application of the technology.

The Samsung SE370 comes in the 23.6-inch and 27-inch display sizes and will come with the full HD resolution. This is an industry first and the base stand of the monitor will have an integrated wireless charging station.

The only catch is that your phone should be supporting the Qi wireless charging standard, developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) and is supported by phone makers such as Samsung, Sony, LG, HTC and Huawei.

The SE370 is a full HD monitor aimed at gamers and comes with a response time of 4 milli-seconds, says Samsung. The SE370 monitors are compatible with Mac OS X as well as upcoming Windows 10 OS. It comes with an eye-saver mode which reduces blue light.
