Google Students Club Launched At Makerere University

Makerere University one of the biggest universities in Africa now has a Google students club. The club was launched this weekend by the Google Student Ambassadors Victoria Mbabazi and Power Mukisa Grace both students at Makerere.

The Club is aimed at equipping students with skills to help them better utilize Google tools in the way they study and work in their startups. At the event the different speakers introduced the audience to Google Apps like Gmail, Hangouts and search. There was a quiz on Google Apps which tested the knowledge students have about Gmail.

Victoria Mbabazi discussed the importance of Google Apps Script and we had another code session on Apps Script. She also urged the students to turn up for the next series of events that are going to happen around Digital Marketing and the students who finish the  course will be given certificates at the end of this course.

The launch was also attended by the founder of DoneDeal Uganda who pointed out how important Google tools like search and analytics are to her business and how we should just copy and paste what is working in some part of the world and start a local version of it here in Uganda.

I personally enjoyed the event which was full of merry making and awesome quizes that tested my knowledge of Google tools.
