ROKE Telecom Partners With TATA Communication To Launch A POP

tataLast Evening at Serena Kampala Hotel the State Minister for Finance in-charge of Investment Hon: Eng.Dr. Ajedra Gabriel Gadison Aridru blessed the Launch (marriage) of ROKE Telkom and TATA Communication as they launched the Point of Presence for TATA global network in Uganda.

Now I know what would come to your mind and it’s the same thing that crossed my mind when I got an invite to this Launch, how is TATA the Big car giant in Communications? Well TATA Communication is the number 1 voice carrier in the whole world and it deals in both Voice and Data with a network that spans over 650 Cities in the world.

TATA communications partnered with Poke Telkom to expand its MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) network to EastAfrica and accoriding to TATA Vice President Managed Network Services Mr. James Walker, This partnership is in line with TATA’s emerging markets strategy, helping global businesses to capitalize on growth opportunities in these markets. The partnership is designed to enable TATA to merge the best international technology delivery with the strongest local technology implementer.

The Director, Regional Data Sales Tata Communications, Mr Steven Van Der Linde added that with access to the MPLS, he was very excited to see how Ugandans where going to take advantage of their Cloud Service to increase on local content like Music and culture content being developed. He is also looking to see how more global companies with local Ugandan branches are going to take advantage of this infrastructure

The Point of Presence will give Ugandan businesses the same global standard of connectivity enjoyed by TATA’s international  customers and would expand the MPLS supported services such as Telepresence, a high-definition,  life-size virtual conferencing experience that simulates an in-person meeting experience.

The COO Roke Telkom, James Byaruhanga emphasized that they chose to work with TATA Communications because of its world leading global network including its wholly-owned fiber optic subsea cable ring around the world which brings the reach and reliability needed to interconnect global communities.

This partnership comes as the current global trends are heading into creation of one network between multiple countries in order to break the boundaries which make secure trade difficult and we hope to see how Roke is going to leverage this network to create efficiency in the way we work and live.
