Google yesterday showed off a prototype of its radical new self-driving car without all the bells and whistles: That is: No brakes, no steering wheel, and no pedals!
It has been revealed that Google is going to make 100 or 200 more of this version of the prototype. It was built with the help of several car parts suppliers across the globe.
The prototype was revealed by Google co-founder Sergey Brin at the Code Conference.
He said Google revealed the prototype today because you are going to start seeing them on the road.
“Our software and sensors do all the work,” the company wrote in a blog post. “The vehicles will be very basic—we want to learn from them and adapt them as quickly as possible—but they will take you where you want to go at the push of a button.”
