Orange & Huawei recognize innovative students

Orange Uganda will today award students with the winning mobile applications in the just concluded Community Innovations Awards competition.

Running for the third straight year, the competition attracted 72 students of which 20 managed to make it to the finals. The announcement of the winners will be done at Makerere University‘s Main Building. Present already is Uganda’s State Minister for ICT, Mr. Nyombi Thembo, and the Guest of Honor will be Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi.

The annual competition tasks university students to develop mobile applications that are relevant to community issues in the areas of Health, Education and Agriculture. The call for entries was sent out to all universities in the country back in May.

“I would like to thank all students that have taken part in this competition,” said Orange CEO Philippe Luxcey in a press statement.
